Online Bingo Sites Boosted by Increase In Mobile Gambling
Over the past two or three years a new form of technology has revolutionized our lives in many ways. When smart phones hit our markets, with Apple leading the way with its innovative iPhone, this technology quickly gathered a loyal following and it was not long before a range of other mobile phone manufacturers began to bring out their own smart phones.
These smart phones are now used for a range of purposes apart from the obvious purposes of making and receiving calls or sending texts. Many people love them because they can use them for easy access to social networking sites, others love to have a compact and easily portable device on which they can access the Internet, and some people even use them for business purposes.
Of course, one of the great things about smart phones, which many people love about them, is the fact that they enable users to enjoy a range of entertainment right at their fingertips no matter where they are. In order to give consumers plenty of choice when it comes to facilities and entertainment via their smart phones, developers have brought out a range of apps that can be easily downloaded by smart phone owners.
Gaming apps are amongst the many different types of apps that consumers are able to download these days, and with the way that consumers’ love of online gaming has developed over recent years it has come as no surprise to find that these gaming apps have been embraced by so many smart phone users. The bingo group Rank has illustrated just how popular smart phone gaming apps have become with the release of mobile phone versions of Meccabingo and Blue Square. These apps have quickly become very popular – in fact, Rank reported a massive 28 percent jump in interactive revenues over a period of just ten weeks as a result of the release of these apps.
Bingo is traditionally a game that is associated with older consumers but over recent years, with online bingo sites popping up all over the place, more and more younger people have become fans of this game, playing from the comfort of their own homes via the Internet. Now that bingo apps have made an appearance, the huge numbers of younger people that have smart phones are able to enjoy playing this game from their phones, which is certain to boost its popularity amongst younger people even further.
Further evidence of the popularity of smart phone gambling has come from Paddy Power’s chief operating officer Breon Corcoran. Speaking at the recent Google’s Think Mobile conference in London where he explained that around 55 percent of their regular customers owned a smart phone and 34 percent of active customers were now using their smart phones to access Paddy Power’s services. In fact, over the course of 2010 the company’s mobile revenues increased by an extremely impressive 300 percent. He also provided figures on how much user growth had rocketed, rising from 10,000 mobile customers in January of last year to 50,000 by January of this year. Just three months later, in April of this year, the number had increased to an impressive 120,000. This surge was put down to the company’s apps for smart phones.
The future of mobile gambling
Many industry officials have said that figures such as these show that the future of mobile gambling is a bright one that will see online bingo and gambling sites go from strength to strength, enjoying a surge in customers and being able to capture a wider demographic with younger smart phone users. More recently, we have seen the launch of the Internet tablet, which has provided even more scope for the rise of online bingo sites. Like smart phones did a couple of years ago, Internet tablets have quickly formed a loyal following and there is little doubt that more and more people will be enjoying the thrills of gambling and bingo through the use of these highly portable devices.
Another technological improvement that could see a further surge in the number of online gamblers is 4G technology, which is set to be rolled out across the UK over the next couple of years. Whilst 3G networks have provided users of mobile internet with great convenience and ease in terms of being able to get online wherever and whenever they need to, the high demand for this technology has left networks feeling the strain. However, 4G networks will be far more able to cope with the high demand for mobile services, and will enable users of smart phones, Internet tablets and other mobile internet devices to enjoy much faster speeds and more reliable connections. This is itself is likely to see more people joining the mobile internet revolution and enjoying the benefits and entertainment of apps such as bingo and gaming apps.
