Dallas Cowboys Turn To Bingo

The NFL and American Football has been big news in Britain this week with the now annual match between two of the top sides taking place at Wembley Stadium in London. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers squared off against the Chicago Bears with the Bears running out resounding winners. This game presented a perfect opportunity for UK based NFL fans to see some of the top players close up and playing in a competitive match. Friendly matches can be a fun way to see top names in sport but when the game can impact on your overall season, there is bound to be more of an edge involved with the game.

Bingo for the gridiron stars

The rest of the NFL squads weren’t just killing time though, they were taking part in their scheduled fixtures and in the case of the Dallas Cowboys, they were getting involved with the local community. Some American sport stars will only come into contact with the general public when they are carrying out community service or following a court order but it seems that many are willing to give up their time. Given the way that sporting heroes are revered by many people, it is nice to see them getting out into the local community and bringing some joy to those who may need cheering up.

Touchdown for a full house

A number of the younger members of the Dallas Cowboys squad turned up at The Brady Center of Catholic Charities of Dallas to spend time with the seniors. There were a number of attractions involved during the day but the highlight for many was the large game of bingo. The players were on hand to call out the numbers and to help players fill in their cards correctly. With a number of great prizes up for grabs, there was a lot to play and a great day was had by all.

The impact that sports players can have on people by taking a little bit of time out of their day can make a massive difference to people who really need some help. It should be noted that many footballers across the UK take the time out to visit sick children or get involved with community projects. This can really raise the spirits of those involved so it would be nice to see it happening on a more regular basis and perhaps with some of the biggest names in UK sport.
