Bingo Boosts Supporters Club Charity Work
Football fans can often get a bad rap from the press and people in general. Any sort of activity that encourages people to gather in large numbers and be vocal will have some people on guard and there are some elements of football fans that can leave you feeling a bit wary. However, surely this is the same for any sort of group where people gather in large numbers? Hospital A&E rooms witnessed their busiest period in decades when Take That went on tour with thousands of women being unable to handle their drink and the excitement of seeing their boys on stage! That is not to say that every Take That fan is a drunk or loves a bit of violence but there are some who this description fits perfectly. By the same token, some football fans can be rough around the edges but there are plenty who bring a good name to the beautiful game.
Be on the ball with bingo
One example of this would be the Greenock Celtic Supporters Club who have recently handed over £1,000 to the Ardgowan Hospice. The current economic climate is causing problems for people and groups of all ages and football fans are not immune to it. The Greenock Celtic Supporters Club has a lot to contend with financially with the ever increasing price of match day tickets and following the team around the country so it is good to see that they are still capable of supporting their local community.
Bingo is a great way to raise funds
One of the ways that the supporters club has raised funds for charitable purposes is to have bingo nights. You don’t have to be a bingo fan to pop along to these bingo nights and this has really helped boost the coffers of the charity group. A lot of people love a good night but can’t manage to the bingo hall that often these days. This is why having the chance to get along to a charity night can often be the best solution for bingo lovers. There is a sense of a great cause being supported, which helps to reduce any guilty feeling that may have arisen thanks to joining in with the bingo fun.
Over the course of 2011, the club managed to raise over £6,000 for charitable causes, which is an outstanding amount. Football fans may not be on the top of your list of great folk but they certainly aren’t all bad.
