Mecca Bingo Go Green

Being seen to be green is one of the most important things in the modern era and this is true for all companies. Consumers are putting a greater focus on the environmental work carried out by firms these days and if it isn’t up to scratch, many people will walk away to other firms. There is also pressure being put on firms by employees who also want to make sure that they are working for a firm that is doing its best to provide the best environmental support in the workplace.

Go green at the bingo

You may not think that a bingo hall is the most environmentally friendly place in the world but everyone can play their part and this is definitely the case for Mecca Bingo employees at the Ellesmere Port branch. Team members from the popular bingo hall recently took part in their very first Go Green Day and the staff, as you would expect, were all resplendent in their green t-shirts! There is a lot more to being green than just wearing green but it is definitely a good starting point and can point people in the right direction.

Walking to the bingo is a start

The first task of the day for the team members was walking to work as opposed to driving or taking public transport. This may be something that is far more suitable during the summer months as opposed to the harsher winter period but if the weather is nice and the walk is not too far, it can definitely be a great way to get some exercise and play your part in minimising harmful emissions. Many people would say that they alone don’t have much of an impact but everyone can play their part in helping to positively impact on the environment.

The team members also gave out a box of energy saving light-bulbs to customers as well as providing a number of helpful hints about how to help the environment. Many people are still unaware of how being greener can actually save them money as well as the environment, which is often the thing that can matter the most. Saving money will mean that players have more money to indulge their bingo hobbies, which is surely a good enough reason to go green! The Rank Group, the owners of the Mecca Bingo firm, have a target of lowering its carbon footprint to 12,000 tonnes by the end of this year.
