Bingo Boosts Accountancy Staff Charity Drive
Given that accountants have an unhealthy interest in numbers; it makes sense that they would be partial to a game of bingo or two. Playing bingo is the perfect way to unwind and even if you have spent a full day looking at numbers on a spread sheet in work, there is sometimes nothing better than keeping your eyes on the numbers in your time off. Bingo is also a great way to raise funds for good causes because so many people love to play the game. They may not always be able to join in the fun on a weekly or monthly basis but if a good cause is likely to benefit, there will be people who go the extra mile.
Bingo can always boost a charity drive
This is why there should be no surprise about the fact that a group of accountants who were looking to raise funds for a local charity they support turned to bingo to boost the income. Employees at the Johnston Carmichael’s Inverurie office have managed to bring in more than £1,500 for a local charity after spending the past year carrying out charitable acts and putting on events. The charity in question is the Grampian Child Bereavement Network, a group set up to providing support to children and young people in the Grampian area who have suffered bereavement.
The managing partner of the office, James Porter, said; “We’re delighted to be supporting our local community with this donation. The Grampian Child Bereavement Network offers an extremely valuable service to the region.”
The cheque was handed over to the Grampian Child Bereavement Network on Friday the 27th of July and the group were delighted with what they received. The chairperson of the group, Anne Bone, said; “I am most grateful to the staff for fundraising for us throughout the past year. Our network not only provides support, but aims to raise awareness of the impact of bereavement on children and young people. This donation will help us to provide this necessary support and resource to the local community.”
The bingo events were instrumental in raising funds for the cause but there were more events lined up too. Some of the other events included a Burns Supper, a quiz night and even a silent auction. The fact that sizable funds are still being raised in the current climate says a lot about people’s willingness to support great causes and of the importance of bingo!
