It seems as though Americans don’t need to much encouragement to head into a fast food restaurant. It is not as if the state inBritainis too positive with regards to the average weight of people and the obesity epidemic but when it comes to our American cousins, they appear to have things a lot worse. This means that many people are probably looking for ways to cut back on their trips to a fast-food outlet but for the companies, it is all about business. This means bringing people in through the doors and it seems as though McDonalds inAmericais turning to bingo.

Bingo keeps people coming back

Bingo has been a huge hit across many fast-food restaurants in the morning shift, appealing to the senior citizens who have plenty of time when younger generation is working. However, it seems as though a growing number of McDonalds outlets are rolling out bingo evenings for their players!

Regular player Lynne Bergman said; “A few years ago my husband and I saw a sign at the McDonald’s inGolden Valleythat said they were hosting Senior Bingo at9 a.m.on Tuesday mornings,” she said. “We thought, ‘Hey, we should do this sometime.’” Now we go every week. It’s just been so much fun for us.”

Another great point of these games is that a sense of local community spirit has been fostered between the regular players. Lynne Bergman continued; “If someone is gone, we notice. People send cards when others are ill, we have gatherings outside of this — it’s really our own little community. Being retired, it’s really nice to have these kind of friendships, especially as we get older.”

Anything which can help people feel a little less alone has to be seen as a good thing and even if it is taking place in a McDonalds, surely the sense of community is the main thing?
