For those of who really want to be able to claim that we have genuinely managed to master and conquer the highly addictive card game of blackjack, we must ensure that we actually take the time to properly learn the basic strategy associated with it. The reason for this is that a firm, well-grounded understanding of the complexities and principles associated with this system will make it all the easier for us to then learn more advanced principles, motifs and theorem.

Some novice blackjack players have voiced concern that learning the basic strategy associated with the game is a fairly redundant exercise, if only by virtue of the fact that it seems to be entirely academically based. The reality however is that blackjack players who take the time to learn the basic strategy and its various guidelines will be able to reduce the house edge (the odds that the casino has for securing a victory over the player) by 7%.

Another concern that is oftentimes voiced by novice players is that the basic blackjack betting system is nothing more than a flash in the pan gimmick, and which will not provide them with any sort of meaningful insight into the game. Nothing could be further from the truth, and the reason for this is that the system has been created with extensive testing and experience.

It is worth noting that there is two main categories of blackjack strategy charts that are routinely relied upon and these are single and multi-decks. Another important issue to be aware of is that the blackjack basic strategy is logically designed meaning that coming to understand and innately appreciate one principle opens the door for understanding of more.

All of the charts associated with this strategy adhere to the same basic pattern in that there is a vertical column which is placed on the left hand side and which will be used to contain pertinent information for the cards currently held by the player. On the right hand side column there will be information listed designed to explain and provide further detail about the dealer.

One stumbling block that novice players will always encounter when they attempt to make use of the basic strategy is the fact that they need to actually commit this system to memory and the reason for this is that casinos are not going to permit their players to pull out reference materials to help them make a wager.

Many novice blackjack players fall into the trap of learning a few tricks and then relying upon them without deviation, or attempting to learn additional strategies. As a result, this means that the limited victories and degree of success the novice player experiences can be more causally attributed to blind luck as opposed to skill. In

Part of the problem is that blackjack is a game that has a multitude of different guises and formats which it takes and each of these different variations will require different usage of the strategies in order to factor in the different rules. Therefore, the “one tricky pony” player who refuses to move out from their comfort zone will quickly find themselves in way over their heads.

Specifically, blackjack strategies that are marketed as if they are a standardized and united system will only work and be of relevance to mainstream blackjack. In short, the player must never succumb to the fatal trap of assuming that reliance on a single method of blackjack playing is the right answer for every game they play in. Rather, basic blackjack strategy should never be seen in absolute, black and white terms but instead, as the source of inspiration from which the player can then learn from and expand upon.

Unfortunately for the player it can sometimes be rather tricky trying to determine the best and most appropriate method of implementing their basic strategy and so the best way for the player to make a determination as to which is the most suitable can be identified as follows.

1)      The rules that are operative for the game of blackjack currently being played

2)      The number of decks of cards that are currently in circulation and usage within the game.

Another common rookie mistake is the mistaken assumption that the number of decks of cards which are active in the game is immaterial and irrelevant. In actual fact, the number can significantly alter the results of success for the player.

Let us use an example.

A player has two sevens (totaling 14) and the player has a total of ten. If this current and hypothetical game of blackjack happened to include multiple decks of cards then the player should ensure that they draw another card. Conversely, if there was only a single decks of cards being used, then the player would be advised to stand their ground.
