Deriving its name from an infamous French mathematician who was a prolific gambler and womanizer, the D’Alembert Blackjack system happens to be one of the most popular and commonly relied upon blackjack wagering systems around. The reason that the D’Alembert system has proven itself to be such a friend to the aspiring blackjack player is due to the fact that the system happens to be very gentle in terms of its learning curve. This comes as welcome and refreshing news for novice blackjack players who have had to contend with no shortage of dry, tedious and archaic programs.

The manner in which the D’Alembert system is implemented is very simple indeed. If the player is fortunate enough to enjoy a win then they will need to ensure that the value of their bet is reduced by a single betting unit. If they are unfortunate enough to suffer a defeat, then the opposite is achieved.

The D’Alembert system has been dubbed the “grandfather” of modern betting systems and with good reason; it has served as a focal point of inspiration for no less than three different and separate wagering systems.

In the interests of more clearly conveying both the power and effects of this wagering system, let us now use an example.

The player wagers a total of 5 betting units and is fortunate enough to enjoy a victory. Therefore, under the provisions and guidelines of the D’Alembert system this would mean that they would then reduce their subsequent wager to 4 units. If in the 2nd round the player was again, lucky enough to secure a victory, then this means that they the wager they submit in the 3rd round would be reduced to 3 betting units.

However, let us now consider the possibility that the winning streak of the player has drawn to a close and so they have suffered a loss. The end result of this is that the 4th round would mean that the player would be required to wager 4 betting units as opposed to 3.

One of the most defining and directly powerful features of this particular system is that the player can and will be absolutely guaranteed that the value of their winnings for any given round will effectively cover and compensate the value of the losses they may have suffered during the course of the preceding round.

This way, the player will never be forced into the perilous position of trying to recover a majorly depleted bankroll all the while, with the threat of spiraling costs.
