Roulette Inside Bets
Roulette Straight-Up Bet
This is the term used whenever a player places a wager on a single number of the table. The value of the chip(s) used for the wager will be placed in the centre of the square in question.
Roulette Split Bet
If a player places a wager on two numbers that are adjoining, whether this horizontally or vertically then the chip is placed on the line between the numbers.
Roulette Street Bet
This refers to whenever a wager has been placed on three numbers which are together in a sequential manner on a horizontal line. The chip will be placed on the edge of the line of the number square which constitutes the final number in the sequence.
Roulette Corner (or square) Bet
Here, wagers are placed in a square fashion, for example, 30,31,32,33. A corner/square bet by necessity, will always involve four numbers, no more, no less. The chip will be situated at the intersection of the four numbers.
Roulette Six line (or double street) Bet
This is a bet which will involve two adjacent streets, and the chip will be placed at the intersection between the two streets.
Roulette Trio Bet
A bet on the intersecting point between 0, 1 and 2, or 0, 2 and 3 (single-zero layout only).
This is a bet which is placed on the midpoint between 0-1-2 or 0-2-3. It is only possible to place and use this type of wager with regards to an European style of roulette wheel.
Roulette Basket Bet
With the bet completed, the chip will be placed at the centre of the intersection of the three numbers that the user intends to make use of.
Roulette Top line Bet
This refers to a bet which has been placed on 0, 00, 1, 2 and 3. Similar to the basket, this wager can only be achieved if the player is using an American style roulette wheel.
Roulette Outside Bets
While by no means a hard or fast rule, outside bets on average, are renowned for having a reduced rate of money associated with them, but a higher chance of actually winning.
Roulette 1 to 18 Bet
This sort of wager means that the player is gambling that 1-18 will be the number that the ball lands on.
Roulette 19 to 36 Bet
This sort of wager means that the player is gambling that 19-36 will be the number that the ball lands on.
Roulette Red or Black Bet
The number on which the ball lands is immaterial, it is only the colour on which it lands that is significant.
Roulette Even or Odd Bet
Exactly the same as red or black with the notable difference being that the player will be wagering on whether the number which the ball lands on is an odd or even one.
Roulette Dozen Bet
Strikingly similar to 1-18, and 19-36 bets, with the crucial difference being that the number range is reduced from a half, to a third. Therefore, rather than 1-18, the player will bet on 1-12 etc.
Roulette Column Bet
This is similar to a dozen bet, except the twelve numbers that will be included in the process will be included within a vertical line.
Roulette Snake Bet
The snake bet has been dubbed the special dozen bet and with good reason, given the high degree of similarity between the two. Specifically, a snake bet will involve the usage of the following digits: : 1, 5, 9, 12, 14, 16, 19, 23, 27, 30, 32, and 34.
The snake bet is a contentious issue within the gambling community, and has been fiercely derided and condemned by gambling experts who claim that the fact that the player has to place a wager on every one of the digits involved leaves them too exposed.
Please note that in the UK, no matter what type of bet you place, the outcome is always the same, i.e. the play to payout ratio remains constant. Therefore, if a player places a single chip on 1-12, this will provide the same outcome if they were to make a wager of twelve chips squarely for the first dozen digits.
