Let us reflect for just a moment about the courses of action that the player is advised to take when it comes to playing at a roulette table, that is, if they want to avoid the risk of losing their entire bankroll.

  1. Avoid roulette strategies/systems like the plague. A casual search on the internet will yield the internet user hundreds, if not thousands of these systems. How do we know that a bad idea and should be avoided altogether? Simple. They promise the player a fool proof system that will allow them to win every single time without fail. If this was indeed possible, do you really think that the creators of such a powerful system would then divulge this info to the rest of the world? In addition, roulette is an entirely randomized system, there is no way to predict or calculate the next number to appear. Automated roulette systems are also against the terms of usage for most online casinos.
  2. Searching for biased wheels is a fool’s game: In the late 70’s, there was reports of big casinos losing out on massive amounts of money as cheaters were able to spot a defective roulette table, and so they exploited that to their own advantage. This was a one time thing only and realising just how much they had lost due to their carelessness, the casinos introduced extremely stringent supervision to prevent this happening ever again. This is true for both brick and mortar casinos, as well as their online counterparts.
  3. The European style of roulette wheel is the player’s friend: What is the difference between an American style and European style roulette wheel? Simple. A European style roulette wheel does not have an extra “00” included. This may not sound like an especially big issue, but with the inclusion of the additional “00” that provides the casino with very sizeable increase in their house edge of 2.6%. Online roulette has a major advantage associated with it: there is zero roulette where there is no advantage to the casino.
  4. Inside roulette bets are not a good idea: To those of us who are avaricious of mind, the mere idea of receiving a pay-out of 35 to a single unit that we wager can be, and indeed is, very tempting indeed. Unfortunately, the odds of actually successfully predicting such a wager is near non-existent and so the casino favours these bets because they know that it is they who will ultimately win. With that in mind then, you may want to wager using the 2:1 bets, such as betting on all black, or all red. Sure, the payout will be a lot less, but, the chances of actually winning are much, much higher. If you want to wager on inside bets that have the 35:1 ratio, then make sure that you do not do this with your entire bankroll. Otherwise, you will spend the remainder of the night trying to recoup your losses, which is never a good idea.
  5. Be disciplined, and set yourself a firmly defined bankroll: Effective management of your bankroll is without a doubt, one of the singularly most difficult and testing things that you will encounter whenever you gamble in any way, not just roulette. Never wager your entire bankroll in a single bet, it is far better to divide your bankroll into equal wagers per round, and then adjust them accordingly. Make sure that you set yourself limits for winning/losing. I.e., if you manage to reach a certain threshold, such as you manage to win 50% of your original bankroll, or lose 20% of it, then cash out and stop playing.
  6. Practise before staking real money. Roulette is and can be a very enjoyable and enthralling game indeed, although it is one that can take some getting used to. With that in mind then, it is essential that the aspiring roulette player should take the time to carefully practise the game before actually trying it out for real. With practise roulette games, the player will be able to see what roulette systems of betting are the most suitable for them and their needs.
  7. Have fun: At the end of the day, roulette, blackjack, poker and any other form of gambling is intended to be enjoyable and provide the player with a measure of amusement and enjoyment. Therefore, do not approach roulette playing as a mere exercise in making profit, or money.
